I Side With Quiz
Apparently I agreed with the Green Party and its beliefs on 91% of the issues, although I initially thought that I would have sided with the Democratic party's views; I wonder if my parents would get the same result if they took the quiz. I'm surprised that I agreed with Republicans in the area of educational issues - I thought I wouldn't be able to agree with that side on much of anything. I think I would have answered in favor of Common Core, and therefore the Democratic/Green Party side, if I hadn't experienced the pilot testing of Common Core at my school; considering I have, though, I must admit that I side with the Conservatives/Republicans in that less national regulation of education would be what I am in favor for, or at least the regulation that I was presented with during the testing last year. However, I was quite surprised at my disagreement with the Conservatives/Republicans on the topic of the environment; apparently, the government already has enough land and global warming is "a natural occurrence". My surprise comes from how that side could come up with such conclusions, considering all scientific evidence has pointed to the fact that the global warming we are experiencing today is not at all natural. I can't see how protecting what few areas of good, untarnished land America currently has is detrimental or arguable against in any way. Oh well.
On the Issues Quiz
As per my assumptions, many of my top candidates in this quiz were Democrats or members of the Green Party. My top two candidates included Rocky Anderson of the Justice Party and Jill Stein of the Green Party; receiving both of these individuals didn't surprise me as I read further into what they stood for, considering I had already been matched with the Green Party in the earlier quiz, and how Rocky Anderson was previously a Democrat before joining the relatively unknown and new Justice Party. Reading their answers and stances on certain topics, I felt as if they were my thoughts and feelings expressed under the names of someone else; our stances were almost identical. However, the answer that surprised me the most came from Jill Stein and her take on how charter schools were siphoning valuable resources from public schools; I feel as if these charter schools have figured out how to effectively use these resources to their students' best advantage, unlike numerous public schools in the United States today. I think that public schools could learn a lesson or two from their charter school counterparts.
PEW/PBS Political Party Quiz
I identified as Liberal Democrat in this quiz, at almost 100% Democrat on the scale. Compared to my age group, I'm on the more extreme end of the ideology, as with my gender as a female, and my race and unaffiliation with religion, although all of those categories in which I fall (18 year old, female, black/multiracial nonreligious individual) tend to learn slightly liberal/Democrat. Considering the results from the two other quizzes, I wasn't at all taken aback at this point; I kind of expected to get these results, which aren't bad or undesirable. It was just expected now.
